About the tuition fee exemption system
Osaka Sangyo University University has established a tuition exemption system to provide financial support to international students so that they can concentrate on their studies. Privately funded international students who meet certain requirements are exempt from a portion of their tuition fees (30% or 50%).
How to apply and who is eligible
Tuition fee reductions are not applied automatically; students who wish to receive a tuition fee reduction must apply within the designated period each academic year. The application period and application method (online application via WebClass or paper application) may vary depending on your affiliation (faculty or Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School) and academic year, so please be sure to check the latest information from the International Exchange Section of the Student Affairs Division.
This system is available to self-financed international students who are enrolled in a regular undergraduate or Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School course and who meet certain conditions, such as having a "student" visa. Students with a visa status other than "student," research students, non-degree students, short-term international students, government-sponsored students, and foreign government-sponsored students are not eligible.
Exemption rate and tuition payment
The exemption rate is determined in accordance with the university's standards based on factors such as the year of enrollment and the academic performance of the previous year, and in principle, 30% or 50% of tuition fees are exempted. The specific exemption rate and determination method applicable to each student can be found in the admission guidelines published each year or information from the International Exchange Section of the Student Affairs Division.
Since tuition reductions will be adjusted for the second semester, you will need to pay the full amount of tuition for the first semester. Only tuition reductions apply; educational environment improvement fees and various membership fees will still need to be paid.
Certification requirements and precautions
To receive a reduction or exemption, you must apply every year and meet the university's academic standards, such as the number of credits earned in the previous year.
Please check the application guidelines for each academic year or notices from the International Exchange Section of the Student Affairs Division for information on how to confirm your enrollment status and what to do if it is determined that there are problems with your student life, such as class attendance or contact with the university.
If you no longer meet the conditions, such as if you change your residence status from "Student" to another, you will no longer be eligible for tuition fee reductions. The content and operation of the system may change depending on the academic year and student classification, so be sure to check the latest information.
